Stud partitions
Non load bearing partitions in steel stud construction, with openings for doors, chases for services and the fixing points that will be needed later.
Drywall and interior fit out in the Heinsberg district
From the outside every drywall partition looks the same. Whether a room turns out quiet, whether the surface stays free of cracks and whether the shelf holds later is decided by the layers behind it. MK AUSBAU builds those layers in Erkelenz, in new build and in existing property alike.

Section 01Build up
Cut open, a wall becomes readable. Five layers work together and every one of them changes how the finished wall behaves. Choose a layer to pick it out in the section.
The top layer and the only one you see. Joints, edges and screw heads are filled and levelled until the surface matches the quality that was agreed.
The plasterboard underneath. One or two layers, depending on what the wall has to carry and how much it has to damp.
Metal profiles at a fixed spacing, set on sealing tape at floor and ceiling. The spacing decides how stiff the wall ends up being.
Mineral wool fills the cavity completely. Left empty, the space between the two skins becomes a sounding board and the wall rings hollow.
The second skin closes the wall. Its joints are offset against the front, so that no seam runs right through the wall.
SchematicThe actual build up is decided room by room and may differ from this drawing.
Section 02Services
Drywall is rarely just a wall. Usually a ceiling, a lining and a junction with the existing structure belong to it. These are the elements we carry out.
01
Non load bearing partitions in steel stud construction, with openings for doors, chases for services and the fixing points that will be needed later.
02
A second skin in front of an existing wall. It makes room for insulation and services and turns a crooked old wall into a flat surface.
03
A frame at a defined distance from the structural soffit, so that ventilation, cabling and recessed lighting have room without staying in view.
04
Fit out below the rafters. Insulation layer, airtight junction and lining are planned together, because they only work together.
05
Risers, pipes and beams disappear behind a casing. Where a valve has to stay reachable, an access panel goes in.
06
Finishing from Q1 to Q4, matched to the covering that follows. Also on surfaces another firm has built.
Section 03Finish
The surface quality is agreed before the work starts rather than estimated at the end. It sets how much filler goes on the wall, and it follows from whatever is laid on top of it later.
Tell us what goes on the wall. The level follows from that, not the other way round.
Q1
Basic filling. Joints and screw heads are filled. Enough where tiles or a lining follow.
Q2
Standard filling. Transitions are levelled and the surface is flat. The usual base for woodchip and textured coverings.
Q3
Extended filling. Pores are drawn out widely. For matt paint and fine wallpaper, where every edge shows.
Q4
Full surface skim. The whole face is coated so that board liner and joint absorb alike. For gloss techniques and direct painting.
LevelThe levels describe the surface qualities that are standard in drywall work. Which one makes sense is decided by the covering that goes on afterwards.
Section 04Sequence
A wall is built in exactly the order in which it is read in section. Each step is finished before the next begins, because none of it can be caught up later.
We measure on site. Wall height, junctions, doors and the places where loads will hang later are recorded, and the build up is settled.
Floor and ceiling profiles are set on sealing tape, the studs are aligned at the agreed spacing and decoupled from the adjoining elements.
Cables, boxes and the supports for heavy loads go into the wall while it is still open. After that the access is built over.
The cavity is filled, then the boards go on. Joints are staggered and cut edges are chamfered so that the joint can take filler later.
Fill the joints, sand the edges, check the surface in raking light. After that the wall is ready for whichever trade comes next.
Section 05Enquiry
Describe briefly what you want built. With the room size, the condition and the time frame you have in mind we can judge straight away what is possible, instead of having to ask twice.
A call settles a lot more than a form does. We pick up, unless we happen to be up a ladder.
Section 06Materials
Four photographs of the material a drywall partition is made from. They show what is no longer visible in the finished wall.
NoteThe photographs show materials and components, not particular projects.
Section 07Uses
The method is light, dry and easy to take out again. That makes it the first choice whenever a layout has to change without touching the structure.

Section 08Questions
The questions that come up on almost every phone call, answered here first.
For a room of about twenty square metres we normally reckon on two to three days, including the frame, the boarding and the finishing. Cuts, junctions and the surface quality you want move that in either direction.
The covering decides. Q1 is enough under tiles, Q2 is the usual base for woodchip, Q3 for matt paint and fine wallpaper, Q4 for gloss techniques and for surfaces that are painted directly.
Yes, provided the fixing is built in beforehand. For heavy loads we set supports or inserts into the wall while it is still open. That is why we ask at the site visit what is going on the wall later.
Moisture resistant boards are used there and the junctions are detailed accordingly. Standard boards do not belong in a wet room, not even as a saving behind tiles.
The cause usually lies in the frame or in continuous cross joints rather than in the filler. If the studwork moves, no joint holds against it. That is why the frame is aligned first and filled afterwards.
Yes. Erkelenz is one of the towns we work in regularly, along with the rest of the Heinsberg district. Just tell us the place and we will say when a site visit is possible.
Section 09The firm
MK AUSBAU is an interior fit out firm from Heinsberg, founded in 2016. Drywall stands at the beginning of most conversions, which is why we carry out the trades that follow ourselves.

Walls, linings, ceilings and casings, from the frame through to the finished surface.
Insulation in the cavity, in the floor slab and under the roof slope, chosen to suit the existing build up.
Primer, paint and wallpaper follow straight on from the filling, from the same hands and without a second set of dates.
Coverings on the finished substrate and doors in the new openings, so that the room is usable at the end.
Section 10Area
Erkelenz is one of the towns MK AUSBAU works in regularly. Short distances mean a site visit can happen soon and that we stay reachable while the work is running.
NoteOther places on request.
Write and tell us what you want built. We will get back to you and arrange a site visit.
